At Cartier Optical we provide comprehensive eye examinations in Old Saybrook for everyone in the entire family.
Everyone needs regular eye exams. It’s important for adults to schedule eye exams to monitor their eye health and check for problems. Conditions that are often detected during eye exams include glaucoma, macular degeneration, cataracts, and diabetic retinopathy. Early detection of these conditions allows for the widest range of treatment options and the best chance of slowing or repairing these problems.
While children often get screened for vision during pediatrician visits, it is not a complete eye exam. Our optometrist can give your child a full vision exam. This is especially important for children who have a family history of eye problems. Adults that have higher risk factors such as diabetes, high blood pressure, work conditions or medications should also get exams yearly. All other adults should have their eyes examined every two years.
At Cartier Optical we offer comprehensive exams that cover all aspects of your vision and eye health. We start with questions regarding your daily life and any symptoms you may be experiencing at home or at work. Then our optometrist, Dr David MacDonald, performs a visual exam to take a look at your eye and eyelids. This is done with magnification and light, and may require dilating of the pupils. We also record your eye pressure with tonometry, which is an important test to identify patients at risk of developing glaucoma.
After these tests, we review the results and discuss treatment options or corrective lens choices. Contact us at (860) 388-0205 today to schedule your eye exam.
